October Fair Program

The Other Art Fair produces a comprehensive program of interactive art activations for you to engage with. Check out our 2019 program below to see what we're all about, and then again in January 2020 when our newest program will be released.

Discover artwork from over 130 emerging and independent artists, specially selected by our expert-led Selection Committee. Each edition of the Fair provides visitors with the opportunity to meet and buy art directly from the artist - your chance to invest in the maker!

MAKERSPACE & CO. - Live Workshops

Learn a new craft and get creative with Sydney-based collective Makerspace & Co.

Unleash your creativity during their interactive workshop series, attend one of their live demonstrations, or buy an artwork from selected MakerSpace & Co resident artists throughout the Fair.

Tickets for workshops are available at checkout when booking your ticket. See more details on avaiable workshops HERE.

LILY GLORIA: Hand-Poked Tattooing

Get inked live at the Fair by Melbourne based hand-poked tattoo artist Lily Gloria. Lily has come a long way as an artist since her London days, but her intricate designs have remained just as alluring. Make sure you stop past her stand to see her designs, including some created especially for The Other Art Fair.

Tattoos cost $150. No pre-booking required.

Join a free tour with one of our Saatchi Art Curatorial team members for a guided introduction into the art world.

Discover what to look for when buying art, how to buy for your individual taste and budget, or be introduced to a variety of our exhibiting artists.

ENESS - The Light SeeSaw

Melbourne-based multimedia design studio ENESS bring The Light Seesaw to Sydney for the first time. Exploring physics and other elemental forces, their seesaw is equipped with a physics engine and thirty-three rows of light that respond to your tilt as you soar through the air. ENESS seesaws - the original seesaw of light - have been installed worldwide, stimulating an international trend for reinventions of this classic play experience.

KYLE WEYBURNE - Future Vision

Step into this installation and take a step into the future...

Walking into this room is akin to walking in to the brain of your future self. The walls are reminiscent of computer circuitry, which guides and directs the electricity that feeds our new reality. The paintings glow on the walls as they are infused with 240 volts of pure energy. If you had the augmented eyes of your future self, you'd be able to see these pictures move--but you don't. For now, you’ll have to watch them come to life via your smartphone or tablet. But that’s not so bad. This is our future. Billboards will move as we walk past, posters will talk to us, and artwork will be like a book; what we see is just the cover, the content though, waits to be opened up.

Extract of Red Air - Matthew Aberline and Maurice Goldberg of Goldberg Aberline Studio collaborated with Sharon and Kaye Warrie, both part of the Cheeditha Art group in the Pilbara, to produce Red Air, an extract of which will be exhibited at The Other Art Fair Sydney. The work expresses a deep respect for the oldest civilisation in the world, an acknowledgment of Australia’s indigenous and white history, a willingness to listen, and a desire to create a new and inclusive future.
Discover these impressive inflatable structures as you enter The Other Art Fair.

If you could do with a little help getting your affairs in order, visit The Doof Secretaries (open for business both Thursday and Friday 6.30pm-8.30pm).
Located within the bar area, The Secretaries are always delighted to help any lost souls find their way - through the arts and sciences of listing, filing and compartmentalising. Intrigued? Us too. We'll meet you at the water cooler.

We’re celebrating art after dark with drinks, live DJs, exhibiting artists, and installations. Visit us any time before 9 p.m. for some after-work fun, and kick-start your weekend an ‘Other’ way.

Bring your little ones to the Fair and make our walls your canvas at the Kids Create area.

Activity sheets, marker pens, and endless colouring, will keep the youngest of our visitors engaged throughout our four day program. The perfect setting for kids to explore the world of creative expression, marker in-hand!

Kids 16 years and under are welcome to the Fair free of charge.
